What is truck capacity management?
Orchestruck is the truck capacity management software inside Grasshopper Labs. It puts every active route and every truck's remaining capacity on one map, so under-filled runs and the orders that could fill them are easy to find.
How is this different from route optimization?
Route optimization builds and optimizes the sequence for a single run. Orchestruck picks those finished routes up and works a level above them, across the whole network at once, looking at how routes overlap, where capacity is sitting unused, and which orders could ride along on a truck already heading that way.
How does it measure spare capacity?
Capacity is tracked by cubic volume, weight, and piece count rather than stop count alone. A truck two thirds full by cube may still be at its weight limit, and the map reflects that instead of assuming every load is the same.
Can returns and pickups be added to existing routes?
Yes. Returns, service tickets, and pickups can be attached to a run already passing nearby, which removes the second trip and the empty miles that come with it.
How long does implementation take?
Most carriers are working the network map within weeks. Zones, truck profiles, service levels, and filter defaults are account settings rather than custom development, so a new operation can be configured and tested without a build cycle.
